When we first arrived, a “security guard” was on duty at night and sleeping in our bodega (storage building.) While he was gone one day, I walked inside to see he’d been reading this Bible and devotional and found this scene just as you see it. Vultures on the beach. A lone beer, likely remaining from all the beach-side New Year celebrations. It’s election season in Ecuador and we are less than 30 days out from the presidential/national elections. Long-tailed mockingbird. A stubborn pelican refuses to leave its nest on the beach. Green rocks on the beach.
